Cercopes - Mythology. Greek Twins, sons of the Titans Oceanus and Theia. They were mischievous, clever thieves, sometimes depicted as monkeys. The Cercopes teased the great hero Heracles, who took them captive and tied them onto a pole that he carried across his shoulders. Heracles was so disarmed by the jokes and good humor of the twins that he set them free.
