And finally, I'm going to introduce you my personnal work. It's a play called '' complete work of WS
abrged'' played by The Reduced Shakespear Compagny.
Can three guys really cover thirty-seven Shakespeare plays in less than two hours? Of course! They
made parodie all of the Shakespeare plays with only three performers in two acts.
This play is full of
energy as the characters run across the stage and keep you guessing how they will pull off the next
play.
Clever use of some interesting costumes also adds to the fun.
The play starts with an eccentric version of Romeo and Juliet , followed by a parody of Titus
Andronicus which is portrayed as a cooking show.
Next is Othello , which is done as a rap song.
The
members of the trio compete in a hilarious football game which summarizes the histories, complete
with commentary and details of each character's rise and fall from power.
An finally the three actors
then perform their very abbreviated version of Hamlet.
The play summarizes 37 William shakespeare's comedies in 97 minutes.
Unlike the previous texts this
play is not faithful at all. It's actually a huge caricature of the complete work of Shakespeare.
All his
text are revisted and played differently.
The personality and the aspect of the characters of the original
plays are modified to become funny !
As a conclusion, I would say that my favorite rewriting would be the last one , the play! As for me, they
found an original way to make a parody of Skespeare's work.
This is a little out of the ordinary but
that's why people like it! They took the form but change the content.
We find a lot of good faithful rewriting but we find less parodies. And that one is one of the better for
me..
