This article entitled ?Will American Ideas tear France apart? broaches the polemical topic of ?Woke Culture?, and its consequences on people?s mindsets. ?Woke culture? or ?Cancel culture? are expressions used to describe a phenomenon that consists in changing some features in a culture because they are considered as racist, homophobic, chauvinistic, (?). For instance, Agatha Christie?s novel entitled ?Les dix petits nègres? has been recently renamed ?Ils étaient dix?. It is a very controversial topic since some people blame ?Woke culture? for threatening a country?s cultural heritage. 2) What do a certain number of French intellectuals and political leaders blame woke culture for? As it is mentioned in the beginning of the article, a certain number of French intellectuals and political leaders consider that ?Woke culture? or ?cancel culture? attacks France?s intellectual and cultural heritage, and gnaws at national unity. Some far-right political leaders such as Marine Le Pen consider that woke culture contributes to ?abet Islamism? and to contaminate France with ?the out-of-control woke leftism of American campuses?. in France, because the mention of “race has become a bulldozer crushing other subjects”.
In
addition, for them, “race is not recognized by the government and merely subjective data”,
which shows that racial studies in France are pointless.
7) What events made a part of the younger generation change about the issue?
Two major events made the younger generation change about this subject.
First, a women’s
rights protest took place to stand up against the interior minister accused of rape and the
justice minister who criticized the #Metoo movement.
Also, other protests against police
blunders took place after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis last year.
These events

8) Who is Mrs Heinich? What does she blame woke culture followers for?
Nathalie Heinich is a French sociologist who helped create an “organization against
decolonialism and identity politics”.
She charges woke culture followers with contributing to

For instance, the students at La Sorbonne stood up
against “cultural appropriation” and “blackface”, which are, according to Mrs Heinich,

9) What explanations does the pro woke give to explain the attacks they are subjected

The pro woke highlights the fact that detractors of woke culture are always part of

Macron had shown little interest” in the threat of
woke culture in the past.
Nonetheless, nowadays, his opinion had changed since he
considers that woke culture becomes increasingly threatening because it contributes
to “break the Republic in two”.
In addition, the President’s concern might have
changed because of the increasing youth engagement in this matter.
11) What is the ultimate goal of a great number of woke culture followers? According
to them, are the theories stemming from woke culture only American?
Like Mr.
Taguieff says, the ultimate goal of a great number of woke culture followers
is: “decolonize, demasculate, de-Europeanize”, in other words, get rid of the “white

According to them, the theories stemming from woke culture only American are
