The secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic

This text is an extract from a book named “The secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic” dated from 200 and written by Sophie Kinsella. It is entitled The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic.

It deals with topics of current interest namely overspending, consumerism and the fact that certain people in our present day society buy without realising the amount they spend easily using their credit card. It is a first person narrative and we could say that the narrator is both the “I and the eye” of the text as it is a kind of testimony, we are in the personal thoughts of the narrator.

This text can be divided into 2 parts

1-     Presentation of a Shopaholic. (Name , sex, disease, the fact, from line 1 to line 26)

2-     Her secret dream from line 27 to the end. (le fait que ses factures ne soient pas envoyées à la bonne adresse et qu’elles soient ainsi payées par une petite personne âgée plein de sous ne faisant pas attention à ce qu’elle fait).
