A. Say a few words about the author and the novel.

enthralled (fascinated) by the punks’ energy.
In fact, Ch.
and K.
feel small and thus
uncomfortable: ”put us in proportion”.
D. Why is this turning point in Charlie’s life?
In the end, Ch.
is completely excited by the punk’s movement, to the point that it downs
on him that “they’re the future”; it’s kind of ironic because, on the one hand punk’s
slogan was “No future”, on the other hand punks are going to be a part of Charlie’s
travesty (that will bring him to fame).
E. Conclusion:
Charly will copy the punks and become famous because of that.
He therefore takes
full advantage of the punk’s style.
Indeed, all of this is a “travesty” because Ch.
will
only adopt the fashion side of the movement (clothes, haircut …) and not their way
of thinking + beliefs.
In this sense he perfectly knows how to sell culture by becoming
or reinventing himself as a British punk in NY City.
Finally, while Ch.
decides to sell “britishness”, K.
will finally accept to take full
advantage of his double identity..
