Diana Spencer, a heroine

« Diana Spencer Lady Diana, princess of Wales, was a member of the British royal family. She was born in 1961 and grew up in an aristocratic family.

In 1981, she married at the age of 20 Princes Charles of England, heir to the British crown.

An exceptional ceremony was held at St Paul’s cathedral in London and was followed by millions of viewers around the world.

The couple gave birth to two children : prince William and prince Harry. Also known as the princess of hearts or the people’s princess, Diana quickly gained a great popularity and became the most emblematic royal personality as well as one of the most famous women in the late XX century. Princess Diana was known for her fashion sense and beauty but above all, she was admired for her humanitarian work.

She created several associations and committed herself into many causes like the defence of children, the fight against AIDS, landmines and many others.  The fight against AIDS Diana said in one of her speeches « people with AIDS need to be embraced just like everyone else ».

She was the patron of the National Aids Trust association.

She had a clear objective : change the image of this disease that was not well known at this time, through awareness and communication.

Her handshake with a person with AIDS without wearing gloves went viral around the world.

She is the first to hug the sick persons in hospitals, listen to them and smile at them.  The fight against landmines Diana was also committed against landmines.

In the 1990’s, the princess of Wales joined the Red Cross with Halo trust, an organization that had to remove landmines in war-torn countries.
