« Comprehension: 1) a)The main character is Locan. He grew up in Tailorstown. His parents were farmers and had   a pub the (Crowing Cock pub). He did not want to take the pub of his parents and left to study   at Belfast. He becomes a painter and works in the Ulster Museum (he restores paintings).

  Besides he is now 37 years old. b) When we read the text we can understand that the father of Locan he is dead. His mother   owns a farm and a pub (the Crowing Cock pub) in Tailorstown. As for me they are simple   people who work a lot (I quote l.9 to11). 2) The Crowing Cock pub is the pub of his parents, this is the place where he grew up.

  Tailorstown is his hometown where Locan and his parents lived. Belfast his the place where   he may make his study and wherw he lives and works when he has 37 years old. The Ulster   Museum is the palace where he work as painting restorer. 3)  a) The mother of Locan want that he takes over the family pub and farm and that he stay with   her, but the dream of Locan is to become an artist. He want to live off his art (and more   precisely his painting). b) To realize his ambition he have must in a first time convince his mother to let him go. Next   he rented the land to farmers from the town and hired a person to help his mother with the   pub. 4) a)Lorcan's job consists in restoring the painting of famous painters, he is an art restorator (I   quote l.21:“The Turners, the Reynoldses, The Lavwrys :alle were revivified under his expert   hand“.). b) Lorcan only restore the painting he didn't create but his dream was to become a painter. So   he isn't bitter (l.20 „Not that he was bitter) but he cannot seem prestigious he did not go   after\at the end of his dream. 5) a) The two character are Jim (the narrator) and Adam Walker his friend. As for me were   friends in college. b) They meet them the last time 38 years before Jim received the package with the letter of   Adam. C) They were probaly at the same college, had make the same study and they are both   writers.. »
