Mary Ann’s parents spent a good evening. So San Francisco must be a good memory for the Mary Ann’s mother. But paradoxically the mothers have a negative opinion of the city. (59 words) 4.The decision: a) Mary Ann made the decision to stay in San Francisco but not only for holiday but for living in this city. She wants to work and to take an apartment in San Francisco. (32 words) b) I quote: l.37: “it feels like home already” So this means that she soon felted comfortable in San Francisco. She thinks that San Francisco could be her new hometown. I quote: l.42: “I just want to start making my own life… have my own apartment and all” So this means that she wants to be independent, to have her private life and don’t have her mother in her legs anymore. I quote: l.48: “I’m a grown woman” So this means that she is an adult, she can manage on his own. She doesn’t want that her mother decides for her. She wants to make her own choices. c) The mother begins to cry because she is afraid that she doesn’t come back anymore. In addition she is scare because she means that in San Francisco are only bunch of hippies and serial killers. She thinks that if her daughter goes to San Francisco, she risk being mugged. Moreover she thinks that it is her fault if Ann wants to go to San Francisco, she thinks that she did something bad. . »
