Ukraine is the largest country in Europe. The two big rivers, the Dnepr and the Donets flow with difficulty via long detours towards the Black Sea.
Most of Ukraine has a temperate continental climate. The majority of the countryside consists of vast rolling plains. The presence of rich black soil permits cereal growing on a large scale. In the West is the eastern range of the Carpathians and in the South the Crimea, an immense peninsula separating the Azov Sea from the Black Sea.
