Cold and Dry Climates - geography. Vermilion, Alberta The climate of Vermilion, on the plains of eastern Alberta, is cold and dry. Precipitation averages 416 millimeters (16 inches) annually, with most falling during summer. Average temperatures here range from -18°C (0°F) in January to 17°C (63°F) in July.
