Schindler's List Schindler's List, motion picture about a German factory owner who saves a large number of Jewish people from death during the Holocaust, based on Thomas Keneally's book about Oskar Schindler. Released in 1993, this film won many awards, including Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Intending to profit from the war, Schindler (played by Liam Neeson) employs Jewish people at very low wages in his factory. When he realizes that his workers will be killed in a concentration camp, he takes drastic steps to save them all.
