Mexican Hairless. Mexican Hairless, breed of hairless dog resembling a chihuahua and several other such breeds around the world. The dog looks like a large, thin, long-muzzled chihuahua, standing about 30 cm (about 12 in) at the shoulder. The skin may be a wide range of solid or mottled colors, the ears are erect, and the tip of the long tail and top of the head may exhibit a scanty growth of hair. The Mexican hairless is recognized as a breed only by the Canadian Kennel Club, but another hairless Mexican breed, the xolotl (short for xoloitzcuintli), is recognized by Mexico. This dog is somewhat sturdier than the Mexican hairless and stands about 51 cm (about 20 in) at the shoulder. Microsoft ® Encarta ® 2009. © 1993-2008 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
