Released in 1933, the film features innovative special effects and a musical score by Max Steiner. After American showman Carl Denham (played by Robert Armstrong) finds King Kong on a remote island, Kong kidnaps and falls in love with a member of Denham's entourage (Fay Wray). Denham rescues the woman and captures the ape, then brings King Kong back to New York City.
