The fire declared itself in the lounge of a house situated in 256, Oxford Street, near 11:40 pm. An electric problem caused by a multitaking would have caused the fire. According to the father of the girl, Landry Fields, the fire propagated very quickly. His wife had time to go out of the house and the father so accompanied with their other six-year-old child. But when he wanted to return inside to save his more young child, the fire had taken too much intensity. Both tenants who lived in the basement had been also able to go out of the house in flames. "I heard my daughter scream" has declares Mr Fields, "And I just witnessed without being able to do anything ".
