Gypsy : it is a person who doesn’t have a habitation.
Romanichels : persons who are member to the Tziganes community.
In France, the term
“Rom” refers to this population who comes from East Europe: Romania, Bulgaria and
Hungry.
Tziganes : a community comes from India, which immigrated in Hungry.
In France this
community are regrouped to create “ the French union of Tziganes association”.
Manouches : it is an administrative term, that designs people who live in France as a
Gypsy.
Native language : In most cases, the language that a person acquires in early childhood
because it is spoken in the family and/or it is the language of the region where the child
lives.
Mother Tongue is a synonym.
Discriminations : unfair treatment of a person, racial group, minority.
It is an action
based on prejudice.
Extermination camps : or death camp.
A concentration camp in which a large portion of
the inmates are systematically put to death, are worked to death, or die from
mistreatment.
Irregular status : not being or acting in accord with laws, rules, or established custom.
Nomadic lifestyle : A nomad is someone who lives by traveling from place to place.
European Union : A group of European countries that participates in the world economy
as one economic unit and operates under one official currency, the euro.
It is composed
of 28 members.
NGO : A non-governmental organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens
group, which is organized on a local, national or international level.
