Gauguin's Chair, Arles 1888 - Vincent Van Gogh

Extrait du document
Van Gogh painted Gauguin's chair first, as a celebration of his friend coming to live with him in the Yellow House at Aries. This chair suggests a different character altogether, and one which Van Gogh appears to have found rather impressive. The chair was probably the best one in the house, being of a more sophisticated design than the yellow chair.
